Costumes of the Stars

Another one of our "buried treasure" field trips was to the world-renowned costume designer Tirelli in Rome. Wow! What a treat! The hundreds and hundreds of costumes were beautiful handcrafted pieces of art.

Our tour guide for the afternoon was costume designer Andrea Sorrentino. Andrea is the assistant of Maestro Piero Tosi, one of the greatest costume designers in Italy. Tosi worked for important movies such as The Leopard that was filmed at the Chigi Palace in Ariccia in the 1960s.

“I suddenly found my articulate self in a dazzling land of smiling, jostling people wearing and not wearing all sorts of costumes and doing all sorts of clever things. And that's when I knew! What other life could there be but that of an actor?”- Cary Grant

(Thanks to the wonderful paparazzi skills of Courtney for taking most of these photos since I couldn't get to the front.)
